What are the big six film companies?
  • Warner Bros. Pictures.
  • 20th Century Fox.
  • Paramount Pictures.
  • Universal Pictures.
  • Sony Pictures Entertainment
  • Walt Disney Studios.

  •
Think of the dates and school holidays
All these films where realised in school holiday or just before. I believe this happens because the audience will have more time to watch the film so the companies will make more money.

Which films are on general release?
This means that films are that are realised into mainstream cinemas and not into limited realise which would be into independent like more intellectual films.

What genre of films are there? blockbuster, indie, foreign?
All these films are classed as mainstream blockbuster as these are the films with the biggest target audience.

    How many are sequels?
The top 3 highest grossing film where sequels or had audiences already established so had a lot of hype already.

How many are blockbusters aimed at a younger audience?
3 of the films where all aimed at children. This meant that they was quite a large target audience and was used as a distraction in the holidays for the parents to fill the children's time.

How many were produced by the Big Six?
They were all produced by the big six

How many different formats are there? Name them.
There where all on general release and then onto DVD. I don't believe any are on streaming services like Netflix.

What kinds of films seem to be missing?
More intellectual films or films that require more thought

How many of the film distributors seem to be producers as well?
     Most of them.

Who do you think are the target audiences for these?
Most of films are aimed at children however some of them are aimed at teenagers. However the target audiences still have holidays and all the films are realised in or just before the holidays so that the target audiences have the most time to watch them.

2.Have a look at release schedule in the UK for December 2016, January 2017 and Feb as we approach awards season and have a big blockbuster lead in the fall. What are your findings.

A lot of the films are more thought providing like "loving" the main blockbusters are children's films. This is because the more detailed and harder hitting themes are more likely to get the awards. Then in February more main stream blockbuster like Fifty Shades Darker is realised and this will have a bigger audience compared to 20th century women.
